The Spirit of Johnson Creek

Posted on

Today we are announcing a new name for our company that more accurately reflects our commitment to maintain our standing as the most experienced and trusted maker of Vapor Liquid in the world!  Please join us below for a short walk down memory lane. It’s a lot of outstanding history for just under seven short years in business!

  • After months of experimentation, Christian Berkey perfects his first e-liquid recipe and launches “Johnson Creek Original Smoke Juice™” is born.

  • Espresso, Chocolate Truffle and Spiced Apple Cider are added to the “JCOSJ” line.
  • The young company moves from Christian’s home to their first office.
  • Another young company called blu asks Johnson Creek to make their e-liquid.

  • The Johnson Creek team had to expand their lab 3 times to keep up with customer demand.
  • The PG-Free Red Oak™ line of Smoke Juice is launched to meet the needs of vapers with sensitivity to PG. The Red Oak™ flavors include Domestic, Marcado™, Island™, Wisconsin Frost™, Swiss Dark, and Valencia™.

  • Johnson Creek moves into a 42,000 square foot facility and builds a 4,200 square foot state-of-the-art lab.
  • Tundra™ and Bacon flavors are launched.

  • The first bottles roll off a new bottling machine.
  • 5mL glass bottles replace the previous 3mL dram bottles for sampling flavors.
  • Rainier™ and Silverthorn™ flavors are added to the Red Oak™ line. Autumn Crisp™ joins the OSJ family.
  • Johnson Creek’s first e-Cigarette, Vea™, launches. Vea is Latin for “the right way” and many customers feel they found the right e-cigarette!

  • Vanda™, Merango™ and Makana™ are brought to market and become fast favorite flavors this year.
  • Gold Reserve™ and Silverthorn™ join the JCE family representing an entire new juice line, Kiln House™. They launch to rave reviews. The deep, bold flavors of the Kiln house™ line harkens back to the early traditions and flavors of American tobacco.
  • The Canteen™, a blank 2.4 ohm cartomizer developed by Johnson Creek is also launched to be used with the Vea™. Later, pre-filled Cartomizers in 9 flavors are introduced.
  • Aggressively looking to the future growth of the company, construction begins to build out the upstairs warehouse into offices and the kitchen gets a remodel.
  • Just five years old, Johnson Creek is named one of the fastest growing privately held companies in America by Inc. magazine in their yearly top 500/5000 contest.
  • Johnson Creek is featured in Time magazine.

  • Johnson Creek wins 2nd consecutive award from Inc. magazine.
  • Named a “Future 50” Award Winner from the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce.
  • A 1.8 ohm Canteen™ is launched.
  • The Canteen™ Pro tank system is added to the Vea™ line of hardware.
  • A new line of eLiquid is added. Called Birchwood™, these five PG-free flavors are elegantly simple, offered in our first plastic 10mL bottle with tip built into the child-resistant cap, and offered in 0.8% or 1.6% nicotine strengths.
  • Johnson Creek chooses Republic Tobacco to distribute its products in retail stores. The deal also identifies JCE as the manufacturer for Republic’s line of bottled e-liquid. A second high-speed bottling machine is purchased to accommodate the increased business.

  • Silverthorn™ Menthol is added to the company’s stable of flavors.
  • Founder’s Reserve™, a premium smoke juice aged in whiskey barrels and made in small batches is launched in keepsake miniature wooden barrels with unique labels hand-signed by Christian Berkey. Limited quantities are available as each batch completes its aging process.
